So was the last telling of the story the 'real' story?

I guess I'm a bit confused on the final telling of the story...who's that guy? Looks like a therapist (but he's really not explained unless I missed something)..then we are lead to believe even the FINAL story may or may not have happened.

He's a psychiatrist, and he's telling us what "could" have happened, just like all the others. So no, it's not a "real" story, just his attempt at piecing everything together.
