Shelley Winters language

Right after the ship capsizes, Shelley Winters' character is mumbling to herself, and the subtitles say "Foreign language". Does anyone know what language it is? Winters family were Austrian Jewish immigrants. Was she speaking Yiddish?

I missed the part about them going to Israel to meet their grandson. I suppose it is Hebrew.

I think it may be the Kaddish - the Hebrew prayer of mourning for the dead.

It's Hebrew.

Yes, she and her husband are identified as Jewish. I wonder if the book has more background on her character? Her terror of fire made me wonder if she was a Holocaust survivor.
