Oh My God!!! Those Stupid....

Showtime DVD was selling this. Except they used the cover for the Piranha movie made in 1978, and also didn't use the full title "Piranha, Piranha" but cut the screen so much that it only said "Piranha". I was a sucker and bought it. I had never seen any of the Piranha movies and so I thought through the whole thing that it was the famous Pianha movie. Well, There where no Piranha's in any part of the movie. Those stupid morons that released this movie under the famous 1978 movie have alot of explaining to do.

By the way
This movie sucked. It wasn't a horrow, which I was expecting - but a drama. Only the end was suspencful, But still the fighting was so corny I wanted to laugh. I just now found out that it wasn't the Piranha moie I was looking, so I started looking for the right one. So stupid.

I got it on Madacy DVD. The cover says Piranha Piranha, but the DVD Menu Screen just has "Piranha". I too thought then that maybe this was the more famous movie that actually had piranhas in it. "bonus features" include the credits, direct scene access and a quiz...Ooooo I wonder about the quiz cause the other two things are hardly bonus features.

This DVD is also dated 2003, which completely confused me. I knew it would be a crappy monster movie but I thought atleast being made in 2003 it would have been tolerable. But oh no it's a 1972 movie!! AAAhhhh! I'm 21. I do not have the ability to appreciate old movies. LOL.

My movie Review and Spoilers:

The back synopsis on the DVD cover actually doesn't sound too bad...but the movie is 1 hour, 30 minutes. The "action" starts about an hour into it. The tagline "Don't miss it" should read "Skip the first hours worth and then start watching." I'm sure it's a common atribute to OLD movies, but this movie was just filled with long boring shots of various things. Like a 5 minute clip of the airplane landing....ok....we get it. Then random motor cycle riding with music being played...on and on it goes with no point. Once the woman started taking pictures of the Amazonian children I had to fast forward cause I knew it would be another 5 minute pointless clip with wretched, old music being played. Instead of progressing to the PLOT, let's just film this guy standing at the bar near these two Brazilian men just kinda staring off into space. That creates drama.

There are piranha's in one little scene. Maybe I should appreciate the artistic title "Piranha, Piranha" to have a symbolic or second meaning....but no, it sounds more just like a stupid ploy to get people to watch it.

I bought this movie for 3 bucks. Not even worth 3 bucks. Maybe 2 cause I do love the Amazon. Gotta love those stock footage animal attacks (i know it's an old movie, but still they suck)

Amazingly, I found it impossible to find the 1972 Pirhana, the subject of this forum. The other Pirhana is much easier to locate. Hardly anyone remembers, and no video store stocks, this movie.

varuns-1 - Just wanted to let you know I picked up an Echo Bridge 7 movie pack today at Walmart, called "The Jurassic Collection", and the 1972 film "Piranha" is included in the 2 disc set. I've haven't watched it yet, so I can't attest to its quality, but thought you'd like to know. It's also available on Amazon. Here's the link:
http://www.amazon.com/7-Movie-Jurassic-Collection-Klaus-Kinski/dp/B00XMK4KZQ/ref=pd_rhf_gw_p_img_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=14JBXXC6MQ0R43JQRCWX

Most of the rest of the set are PD films we've all seen, and are on many other sets. But the one gem I bought this for is 1985's "Creature" (aka "Titan Find"), with Klaus Kinski, presented in a fairly decent looking full frame format, and seems to be pretty much unedited.

Thanks, richard-865, that's interesting! "Piranha"(1972) is such an obscure, and unknown movie, that it is remarkable that it was included.

I have now seen the whole movie on youtube. Someone uploaded it in the last year or so.
