What's your favorite song?

What's everyone's favorite song?

Mines gotta be "Careful with that Axe, Eugene."

ps
Is my quote accurate? I don't own a copy of Live at Pompeii myself.

"Many people think we're a drug oriented band...we're not. You can take our word for it."
David Gilmour

Thanks, I'll change it.

Possibly. It is a cool movie, my friend let me borrow it. But I'd rather expand my Floyd album collection before I get this movie.

And what's Fonzie like? Come on Yolanda what's Fonzie like?

And yet another vote for Echoes! (I've gotta get this on DVD...)

Echoes is possibly my fave PF song ever, it's so much more than music, it's a journey!

Check out David Gilmours forthcoming live DVD shot last year at the Royal Albert Hall, as it features Echoes among many other classic Floyd tracks, plus a complete performance of his stunning "On as island" LP

Careful With That Ax, Eugene, for me.

I’ve always preferred Echoes part II, though remain perplexed why they split the song into two halves anyway. I’m assuming it’s to avoid playing the whale song part in the middle section, but I would rather leave the stage to a recording (or leave Rick Wright to weave his magic) and come back for the end – mainly because the transition between the mid-section and part II is the best bit of the song – massively theatrical - and a shame to lose it just to miss out the middle.

But that’s just me. The opening section of Careful With that Ax, Eugene has to be one of the most amazing pieces of music by any band.

Drugs and Floyd. Not sure I would take Gilmour’s word for it. His interviews on Live at Pompeii were notoriously tongue in cheek.

The whale section of Echoes is played by Gilmour, live, when he reverses the cables in to his wah pedal.

I can't choose between "Echoes Part 1" and "A Saucerful of Secrets."

I guess I'll go with "ASoS."

Wot's... Uh, the Deal?

reply

I can't help but think they were wrecked out of their minds while playing Sauceful. Look at how Gilmour's sitting. That's a drug induced seating position if i've ever seen one :D

Echoes.

Yeah, David.

Echoes has always been my favorite, not just on this movie/CD, but my favorite pink floyd song in general.

There are some who call me....Tim?

Echoes Part II is definently the best in the movie. If you listen closely to the ending, you can hear a Shephard tone. It's an auditory illusion, and beauty personified as music.

reply

A saucerfull of secrets.
David's vocals get me every time.

Another vote for Echoes, absolutely brilliant. One Of These Days and STCFTHOTS are high up on the list though. Updated my VHS copy to DVD a few years back, well worth it.

My favourite would have to be "Echoes."

Toss up between Echoes and A Saucerful of Secrets.
