A Serbian Film.

I'm going to go with Pink Flamingos. They both have cringe moments that make me close my eyes but Flamingos was real. The chicken rape scene, semen injection, the incest bj that came outta nowhere, not to mention it's a man on man bj. And the eating of the dog feces and spreading it over her/his teeth. At least the newborn porn scene in Serbian looked fake as hell. As was most of the gore in Serbian. As messed up as the plot is in Serbian I find it to be a well shot film with an interesting plot, also an amazing soundtrack. It's all about opinions but I had a harder time with this film than Serbian.
shareSo man on man blow job is more disturbing than a serbian film?
It might just be me but, snuff films is the most perverse subject you can possibly do. Eating *beep* Everyone and their grandmother saw 2 girls 1 cup.
A woman getting her head chopped off during sex, a man raping his on son in the ass till he bleeds, a woman getting her terth pulled out and suffocated with a penis and all in the context of filiming it so guys can jerk off to it? I dont see how pink flamingos is worse.
So many of those scenes in Serbian looked fake, and obviously are fake. The rape scene in Flamingos was staged but the chicken in between the two was real. What happened to the chicken was real and so were the injuries caused by the chicken. Serbian is cleary so over the top and ridiculous you can't take it seriously. I don't take Flamingos seriously either but more scenes in it disturbed me because they felt or were actually real. Same with Cannibal Holocaust. The turtle scene really happened. That disturbs me more than any fake scene in A Serbian Film. But hey, that's just like my opinion, man.
shareI don't know anybody's grandmother who has seen or knows what 2 Girls 1 Cup is. Most people are going to be sickened by the sight of someone eating real poop. Most will be sickened by just the thought of it.
Still, I find Serbian Film much more disturbing.
I haven't seen A Serbian Film, and I don't want or intend to, but, from what I've read about it, it definitely would qualify as worse. Yes, Pink Flamingos is sick, outrageous, shocking and disgusting, but, it's done in a funny way, not in a serious, angry political statement kind of way. While Waters may have written in Shock Value that he likes that his films have no socially redeeming value, at least in Pink Flamingos the "good guys" (Babs and family) win, with the evil Marbles being punished for all the cruel things that they had done. You don't get that kind of resolution with A Serbian Film.
In the review at DVD Verdict.com, http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/pinkflamingos.php, the reviewer writes,
In her final press conference before executing her competition, Divine announces that she will one day be queen, and we are left to wonder: who would you rather be ruled by, the fascists or the anarchists? Oh well, at least the anarchists do not seem to be quite so uptight.
A Serbian Film is shot really well, giving it a very high production value removes some of the disturbing qualities. Not to mention the baby scene looked really fake (not that I wanted it to look real...). Pink Flamingos is trash, and looks authentic despite the horrible "acting".
PF, not by far though.
Depends whether you're taking context into account. Obviously A Serbian Film wins on the graphic front (as do many horror/exploitation films), but to consider that Pink Flamingos came out of nowhere in the early 70s and was seen by so many people is pretty important. There wasn't much else like it at the time, at least not that anyone saw.
Whichever way you look at it, A Serbian Film was very self-consciously trying to be "dark" and "brutal", whereas Pink Flamingos was just a puerile exercise in bad taste. Despite that, I think A Serbian Film feels a lot more juvenile.
So yeah, it's kind of an impossible comparison. It's like asking "which is scarier, The Exorcist or The Conjuring?"
a serbian film was more fkd up obviously. Pink is definitely the better movie though.
shareI thought "A Serbian Film" was ridiculous, attention-seeking, pointless, pretentious and boring.
On the other hand, "Pink Flamingos", while certainly attention-seeking, was very funny, very original, and, in the end, harmless - one chicken notwithstanding. (Hey, they ate it afterwards.)
'I thought "A Serbian Film" was ridiculous, attention-seeking, pointless, pretentious and boring.'
My thoughts exactly.
A Serbian film is way worse than this. This is tame and just a slightly disgusting yet fun movie to watch. I own this movie. I don't and will never own A Serbian Film.
