Clarification

When attempting to remove this disc I accidentally hit the SUB button and brought up the Spanish subtitle menu-brainstorm. Finally I had the chance to decipher the dialog that consisted of whispers, sobs and incoherent ramblings-particularly at the end.
It is clear now-that I have read the script in a roundabout way-that the intent of the film is pure fantasy. Holland was never the doppelganger big brother nor was his spirit guiding Niles in committing evil acts. The intent is the impression of loneliness and grief-and a child's ability to be a great acceptor. However this acceptance comes at a high price.
Niles disillusion carries the narrative and I now believe the incoherent dialogue was intentional mainly because the storyline is somewhat ridiculous and having the ability to read along with the actors-this is all to clear.
Still a fine film however reading along in Spanish is the ultimate in spoilers. I wouldn't recommend for persons who find this film so gripping and intense.

The book, you apparently read it, is amazing. As much as i like the movie, I would like to see it remade with the scenes you mentioned.. I dont think they will ever find a replacement for the twins. It was like they were made for that book.
