Trying to make sense of the witch's curious curse

Apparently, the witch that the Baron burned to death 300 years earlier, Elizabeth Hölle, cursed him with a spell that would allow him to rise from the dead so she could take her revenge on him again and again. But how does she take revenge on him -- through his victims resurrected by her? Or did I misread the ending?

I'm assuming part of the curse is that the Baron is only resurrected in the hideous marred/rotted-corpse condition, which explains the skulking cloaked 'monster' with a black fedora.

Okay, but how does the Baron morph into the wheelchair-bound Mr. Becker (Joseph Cotton)? It's hard to believe this is part of the curse since he seems quite satisfied & merry as Mr. Becker.

Are the answers in the movie or was it just badly scripted?

it's badly scripted. the curse thing didn't make sense since it was the great grandson who brought him back. not sure how the curse worked or how he looked normal.
