DVD anyone? and would the pig scene survive?

This bizarre horror film needs a proper DVD release, not just on bootlegs with Dutch subtitles that seem to be floating about. The old UK VHS version on Canon Video was great - uncut, in English and a good picture too. I sometimes wish I had hung onto my old copy!

I wonder if the scene showing the genuine pig slaughter is causing any holdup - it's certainly far more horrific than any of the staged murders in the film, and I can imagine it being a cause for concern these days.

A Region 1 DVD from BCI Eclipse/Deimos Entertainment has been annouced. It should be uncut. It's slated for an early 2008 release. I'm so happy that Naschy's previously rare and hard to find films are coming out again on DVD uncut and widescreen, with plenty of cool extras like trailers and photo galleries to boot.

Nobody does W.C. Fields singing "Mama Told Me Not to Come" better than Paul Frees.

IS THERE A recording available?

I'm a Paul Frees fan.

reply

Frees recorded an album in 1970 called "Paul Frees and the Poster People" with Frees impersonating W.C. Fields singing "Mama Told Me Not to Come" on it. Moreover, somebody posted the whole album on YouTube.

Not as much fun as watching pigs being destroyed by tornados in the deep south.

Nothing is more beautiful than nothing.

so the pig scene survived...unlike the poor pig. i'm not in favor of cencoring or cutting movies but that scene was totally unnecessary in the first place. the pig being slaughtered had nothing to do with the movie except to add some extra blood which could've been done with make up/fx anyway. it's a tarnish on an otherwise decent movie.

This is a fair film, with a good double twist at the end. I thought it was terrible at moments but the ending redeemed the entire film.

It was like hanging out with someone annoying but they tell you one of the funniest jokes you have ever heard right before they say good bye.
