'Night Stalker better than 'Night Strangler! (in my opinion) (SPOILERS)

I just feel 'Strangler rehashed the same plot with a less-interesting villain. Sure, the bickering with Kolchak and Vincenzo is there, but we saw that already in 'Stalker. Plus, the vampire in 'Stalker has a ton of more action scenes!

The underground city scenes and the confrontation in 'Strangler come at the end, whereas in Stalker there are multiple confrontations with cops, orderlies, etc. as well as the final confrontation with Kolchak at the end. Both movies' villains are excellent, but he villain in 'Stalker growls, has red eyes and is deathly pale while the 'Strangler villian is normal looking.

I agree with you,but still liked this film despite its flaws. It would have been nice if Carol Lynly had been brought back as the female lead, since it's a shame she was never mentioned in the T.V. series either.

'Night Stalker' better than 'Night Strangler'! (in my opinion)

I think you're correct, but "The Night Strangler" is also better in some ways or, at least, different.

For instance, the villain is more complex, not to mention he speaks and has a detailed dialogue with Kolchak in the last act. Furthermore, "Strangler" provides Kolchak with a gal pal teammate, played by cutie Jo Ann Pflug. (Only twice in the ensuing TV series did Carl have a sort-of teammate -- "The Energy Eater" and, barely, "Demon in Lace"). The mysterious underground lair of the strangler with his creepy mummified family is superior to the vampire's decrepit house in "Stalker." There's also a lot more quality humor and a better percussion-oriented score.
