I can't believe there are no discussion threads about My Childhood...


This is one of the best films , in my opinion, ever to be made.

It tugs at your heartstrings and has beautiful mise en scene!

Lets start some banter...

Almost 5 years have passed from the previous comment - time to add another. Thanks to youtube, I was able to watch this little known masterpiece. Very depressive indeed. Not so much the economic poverty but the psychological abandonment that the little boy faced all the time. I learned from a review that the director died at the age of 57, and the boys who played the two brothers both died around the age of just 40. Growing up in such surroundings must be rather unhealthy indeed.

EDIT. I realized that what I just wrote about the two boys is not quite right. The boys obviously could not have been growing up in exactly the same circumstances as the director. But for some reason they still died very young. So I let it be.
