The Italian Mafia in the Movie

I never quite understood why the Mafia in this movie speak English and not their native Italian? Also, how come they let Black men in their gang? Typically, the Italian Mafia do not let anyone who isn't Italian join up with them? It would have been interesting if they would have used Italian as the language instead of English in the dub used for the American releases.

They weren't the Mafia.

They would be associates, not members. La Cosa Nostra routinely employs people from all races but do not make them made members.
