this movie sucked.

I feel almost sac-religious saying that.

pros: Charles Bronson,
Michael Winner (dir.)
uh...

yep, that's about it.

save yourself the what felt like 3 hours and go watch 'Death Wish'.

it had a cool premise. it was just executed all wrong. I guess the writing is what i had the biggest problem with. I guess this is one of those movies that passes because we can see it for what it could be.

I liked it too...

As much as I wanted to like this film, I just couldn't. I turned it off half-way through just because I was so bored. Maybe it got better, but I didn't want to waste tiem trying to find out. The way he "fixed" people was interesting, bu other than that, totally boring. Bronson looked, sounded, and acted his worst. I think I enjoyed Death Wish 5 better.

reply

what does sac-religious mean? should just be sacreligious.

Nothing is more beautiful than nothing.

reply

No... Sacrilegious.

reply

No. Sacklerligious.

Nothing is more beautiful than nothing.

reply

No it didn't. You should stick to "Rush Hour 3"...that's probably more up your alley.

reply

LOL - agreed.

I think this film kicks ass.

Just my $0.02.

Wait a minute... who am I here?

reply

That it does...glad you liked it!!

reply

"Sucked" - are you serious?!

The Mechanic is easily one of Bronson's best pictures, and I say that as a huge Bronson fan.

reply

Well worth the £1 I paid for it in HMV!!!!

You wanna eat that outside?

reply

u should stick to cock sukin

I did a Jan-Michael double feature this weekend. Just saw this movie last night. I thought this was a great film! I did see it after watching JMV in Defiance -- which I thought was just plain awful.

One of the best Bronson films of all time..

By the way you suck, not the film.

reply

Yep Loved this movie

reply

For me it might be THE best Bronson film of all-time.

If not, then damn close - definitely in my Top 3.

Wait a minute... who am I here?

reply

Just watched this for the first time last night. Loved every minute of it.

Yeah, especially if you haven't seen The Magnificent Seven, The Great Escape, The Dirty Dozen, and Once Upon a Time in the West...not to mention his 1972 peak with Chato's Land, The Velachi Papers, and of course--The Mechanic. Stop thinking of the 1980s "auto pilot" Charlie when he did any old thing that came his way and take the time to watch the man at the peak of his game. Judging a performer on their lesser efforts is just a negative way of looking at the world and it isn't healthy, either. Now do your "homework"... ;)

All Hail Bronson. ;)

"Stop thinking of the 1980s "auto pilot" Charlie"

Hey! There's nothing wrong with the Cannon films!

reply

Those first four aren't 'Bronson' films. That's like saying Ocean's Eleven is a Bernie Mac movie.

reply

That's pretty damn funny...

reply

Hard Times - Charlie at his understated finest.

Charlie was the man in his prime....and HIS "prime", was in his 50's.

Charlie was so badass, like Chuck Norris, his name is synonymous for a badass...even Quentin Tarantino knows it!

"Marty. Y'know what we got here? Motherf*@kin' Charlie Bronson. Mr. Majestyk." Drexl Spivey in True Romance

reply

norris sxu ass, so bronson does too

reply

What a cogent, well-thought response...who could argue with your logic?

reply

i slept 3 times watching it.. but not for the movie, because i saw it too late everytime =P

i liked it alot, ill give it 7/10

The Mechanic is my favorite Charles Bronson film.

I miss Bronson.

reply

I love this movie. I never get tired of it. Probably has to be my favorite Bronson movie and he is one of my all time favorite actors.

reply

The Mechanic is a great example of what action thrillers used to be, back before they just turned into endless explosions, rediculously over the top stunts, and pointless special effects, all served up on a pg-13 platter of non-offensive-to-anyone mediocrity. The Mechanic actually had plot, and character, and tension, and logical story progression, things we just don't see enough of these days. It was an actual film, not just an extended overblown trailer. And while Michael Winner was hardly ever one of the best directors in the world, this is one of his best efforts, cemented by two great central performances from Bronson and Vincent. And I tell ya, I'll take an honest and quality b-movie action thriller like The Mechanic over 99% of what passes for action thrillers these days, because no matter how big the stunts or how loud the explosions, they'll never make up for a lack of real plot and character in my eyes.

reply

I think we can all agree... The Mechanic is the best action thriller ever!

reply

Didn't like the movie as much as I enjoyed Violent City, Malachi Papers, or Hard Times, but I certainly like it more than Chato's Land, hahaha!

reply

Hey, don't knock Chato's Land. That is one of Bronson's best films. But if you want a treat, watch Red Sun. It's the best in my opinion.

reply

"The Mechanic" does not suck. It is a tight thriller with a good plot and great actors. I wish Jan Michael Vincent would have done better than he has done. He has done some good stuff outside of "The Mechanic" and had good potential (watch "Tribes" on late night sometime). Bronson is and will always be a classic.
