dvd release?

Does anyone think this will be re-released on dvd anytime soon?

reply

No. Go to RustedandRare.com. They have pirated DVD copies.

Don't think this is even remembered enough for a DVD. People now seem to follow the movies more.

I've read on several websites that supposedly Manson and a new documentary called Inside the Manson Gang are going to be available on dvd in Feb of 2008 for $39 each or $59 together, via a website called Exclusive Films, which is Hendrickson's website. I e-mailed the site to get more info on exactly when these were going to be available and how to order, but haven't gotten a response back yet, as well as a response to if Inside The Manson Gang is a dvd version of Manson 2.

I got mine a few weeks back and it's awesome (although it was pricey). I paid $49.95 for my copy ($39.95 for the DVD and $10.00 for s&h). They put your name on the DVD box and the director personally signs each copy. I'd say it's worth it if you're a fan of this film because you're getting a good quality transfer (I assume from the original film print) and it's directly from the filmaker - a true collector's item. Plus, you won't be supporting the bootleggers who have been charging exhorbitant prices for crappy VHS to DVD transfers. Here's the link:

Hi jhill0129,

Exactly which DVD did you purchase? The first one that was released on VHS, called Manson, or the new one Inside The Manson Gang?
I ask, because I went to his site and there is no mention of how many hrs?-mins?- of either. Also, I am wondering if they are in fullscreen or widescreen format?

Last year Hendrickson talked of making Manson1 and Manson2. I have an ex-rental of Manson, VHS, that was released in 72/73. It is around 85 mins. From what I understand, he had about 5 hrs. of footage, so I am curious, which one did you purchase--what is the format--and what is the running time?

Please reply back & TIA!

I bought the original '73 movie. I believe it's 85 mins, like you mentioned. To be honest with you, I haven't had a chance to watch it yet, so I'm not certain of the aspect ratio. (I've been looking for this on DVD for so long that it didn't matter to me.) I'm going to make an effort to watch it this week. I can get back to you then. Otherwise, if you can't wait, shoot an e-mail to Exclusive Films. I sent one to them because I had a few questions about payment and they got back to me that day.

It's widescreen, but not remastered and definitely not HD quality. But I think the grittiness really keeps it in its time and place.
