Odd they had such raw footage of the Family...how?

Who was it who provided the camera interviews with the family, BEFORE they were arrested & jailed?
They filmed them with guns, knives, talking about killing people, planning out their race war, tripping on acid with the horses, bathing in a watering hole, running around naked, etc.
Someone had access & a Supper 8mm camera to film this stuff, before they even committed the Tate/Lobianco murders!

Also, they show all these children, 6, 7, 8, years old, but Charlie didn't even get out of prison until '67, so by the time her made it down to L.A. & Spahn ranch, he only had less than 3 years to make his 'family', knock up a few girls & start his 'family - so the kids would have been 2 - 3 at the most, NOT 7, 8, 9, as they show!
Did Charlie recruit Moms, hippie moms, who already had kids, to join their 'commune'??

This is a great documentary, really one hell of a flashback! ;-)

This was filmed during the trial. The kids in the movie, the older ones at least, are Denis Rice's children. He joined after the murders and after Charlie was arrested. As far as I know none of the footage is pre trial. None of the killers are interviewed. I think also Charlie only fathered one child during the family.

I submit that some of this was pre-trail, and some during the trail. From the books I've read (The Family), Sanders, the author, alludes to all of this occurring simultaneously. It was meant as a documentary about the Family, without the issues of the violence in connection to Tate/Labianca. I maybe wrong.

Saw this 25 years ago and dying to see it again. Just don't want to overpay for it.

Not all of the Family's children were Manson's.

A number of the Family's girls were pregnant already and/or had children of their own when Manson recruited them. Any children - of whatever parentage - became community property and were raised collectively.

I believe that Linda Kasabian was the one who stated that the only reason she stayed with the Family as long as she did was because they essentially "took" her child away from her.

The interview footage with Steve Grogan must have been recorded before the trial, because he was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1971 for the murder of Shorty Shea. I too am curious as the context surrounding this footage.
