Death of Hayes

Has there ever been a member of the seven so indifferently killed off as Captain Andy Hayes? In any of the films, they always get a dramatic moment when they bite the dust but it took a few reviewings to see where he died. As a renegade Confederate officer and master tactictian with a cultured side, he was an intriguing character.
