Jet contrails

Where was this filmed? Next to Tucson Airport?

Couldn't they have at least changed the camera angles a bit so that the jet contrails were not so visible in the sky? Probably the made-for-TV-but-then-released-in-theaters low budget prevented them filming more than one take per scene.

In the scene where Lee van Cleef meets Ralph Waite and his motly group of village defenders, and the padre offers them "lemonade," you can see streaks in the sky obviously made from passenger or military jets. Or, maybe they were just 19th century UFOs.

What a piece of low-budget crap, with a slight rip off from "The Dirty Dozen." Actualy, this western started out OK, but then it went right in the toilet when the awful cast of unknown actors playing the "prisoners" very inplausibly are released from prison and given an opportunity for pardon.

Junk. Too bad, because it started out somewhat interesting.

This is a serviceable sequel though I agree, not a patch on the original and yes, clearly influenced by The Dirty Dozen. But just to point out about

... the awful cast of unknown actors ...
Actors such as Luke Askew, Ralph Waite, Ed Lauter and Michael Callan were pretty common support actors throughout the 70's, especially in westerns. We even see Gary Busey pop up in an early role as one of the Allen brothers.🐭

Try as hard as I could I did not see a single unknown actor among the main contingent of those cast to defend the town. All of the prisoners were well established actors in their own right even though they may not have been all cast in western roles in the past. This actually is my second favorite of the MS series after the original. It may be because I am a huge LVC fan and it actually has a well chosen cast overall.
