Best sequel, but the music didn't suit.

This is by far the best Seven sequel. Grittier, better story than the others (they just offered a rehash of the original) and certainly better acted.
The only problem is, the music doesn't suit it. Sure its a Magnificent 7 film so they had to use the iconic theme but ht story plays against the theme. The theme is quite rousing and uplifting, which suited the other films, but this one...
Its a bout a town where the men are killed and the women, repeatedly, raped. Such an uplifting tune just doesn't sit well with the subject matter.
Thankfully they didn't use it too much in the latter half, but they should have dropped it for the closing credits.

Watching it now and absolutely agree. Is the best sequel by far, but the music is misused. It seems to be saying "everything is coming together and it's all going to work out" which is not the case at all right now in the film. Chris just killed two unarmed men and things are looking quite hopeless, with him possibly losing the last of his humanity. Not at all triumphant, and then there's that theme.

Aside from that I'm much more invested than I was in either of the previous sequels.

I actually thought they just used it as a kind of brand identification during the opening credits (and even then it's not exactly the same version of that used in the original film) for the reasons you mentioned. I don't remember it recurring throughout the rest of the film. 🐭
