Remake?

Don't get excited, as far as I know there isn't one planned.

However, I think there are some directors around who could really play with this material and do something impressive. I like the original but it has a disjointedness that suggests the studio/backers were not sure about the whole enterprise.

Who would you cast in the main roles?

I could see Kevin Spacey as a good Leandro. Rachel McAdam or Charlize Theron as Lisa.

Who would direct? For the colours I would like to see Wong kar Wai do it.

Wishful thinking.... ;)

NO MORE REMAKES! PLEASE!!!
Even kidding, don't tell about another remake of a classic movie.

There are some movies that have stood or could stand an update in the retelling, but this isn't one of them. Like so many movies in hte "giallo" genre, "Lisa & the Devil" has a sort of nightmare logic that is all the more terrifying because it doesn't always make sense - you don't always have the comfort of knowing precisely what the hell's going on. I think a remake of "Lisa & the Devil" would come off about as well as that wretched remake of "Psycho" a few years back.

I've yet to see La Maschera Del Demonio and Reazione A Catena, but of all Bava's films I've seen, this one has become my favorite. No one had ever mess with it.

how much you wanna bet Naomi Watts plays Lisa in a remake...

But seriously, IF a Bava film were to be remade, I hope it wouldn't be this one. I don't think it would be though. I feel like Black Sunday, Black Sabbath, and Blood and Black Lace have more name value, and Antefatto fits in best with the mold of contemporary horror remakes.

Ha, I started this thread a couple of years ago when a lot of horrors were being remade. However there's no psycho monster in this and you couldn't really crowbar some kids from WB shows into the cast. You would need, gasp - actors!

I was just kicking around the idea of someone like Christopher Doyle doing the cinematography, a soundtrack by someone like Sigur Ros or Sebastien Tellier. I don't know who would fit the cast but I could see a European actress for Lisa (Franka Potente, Eva Green maybe) and an American character for Leandro or even Javier Bardem.

I doubt it will ever get remade and that's probably not a bad thing because if it did the Max/Lisa chloro scene would probably be replayed as a kickboxing match and Nickelback would do the soundtrack.

This made me laugh. Why would someone get excited for a remake? Remakes are lurid & cheap. It's clear that people can be coming up with their own ideas and something more original these days. And I hope they do not try to remake this film, it's fine as it is. And Charlize Theron is already ripping off Sympathy for Lady Vengence... go figure.
