Wow! What a funny movie which must have been a lot of fun to make. The screenplay written by John Milius who also worked on "Wind and The Lion" with John Huston.

Lawyer Gass: (holding open the State of Texas Law Statutes) " Now see here Judge..it's says right here...what you did was against the law!"

The Judge: (Playing poker, lays his cards down, takes the book from Gass and rips the page out) "That's a bad law!"

It's the simple lines that often work well.

Like, "Who ARE those guys?"

I loved the way he always tried to recount the preacher's reading of Psalms about the "bloodied teeth of the lion" and such. He never got it right but it was always so funny.
