What the... was this the inspiration for Blazing Saddles?

I saw the trailer for Legend of *beep* Charley (1972), and it seemed extremely similar to Blazing Saddles (1974)....?

More like Django Unchained.

I'm watching Charley here now, I've never been able to sit thru Blazing Saddles, but I've seen enough of it.

Never seen Django Unchained and have no intention to.

Watched Rosewood also, mainly trying to get some idea of the history.

It seems like Hollywood would love nothing more than for there to be a black cowboy gunfighter to have been around some way or other.

I'm curious... why do you have "no intention" of seeing Django Unchained?

I can't think of a single thing that someone would tell me that would pass as a good excuse not to give the movie a try. For example, I really am not a fan of Jamie Foxx. But I would still recommend this movie to anyone who likes action, Tarantino films, great dialog films... and so on.

Perhaps a real redneck racist would not like it because a black man gets the better of many whites. But even that is a lame excuse not to watch a truly entertaining film.
