Monster Quest WIDESCREEN Boggy Creek.....

I just watched Monster Quest featuring Boggy Creek and was surprised to see that the clips they showed from the film were actually in widescreen. Hopefully we will get to see a new dvd release other than the usual full screen crap.

Awesome. Both this and "Creature from Black Lake" seriously deserve widescreen DVD releases. Their original aspect ratios were both 2.35:1, but they've been released on shoddy pan-and-scan DVDs. "Black Lake" was shot by Dean Cundey, no less! For crying out loud, he shot "The Thing", "Halloween", "Back to the Future", "Romancing the Stone", "Jurassic Park" ... it's a crying shame that one of his earlier films isn't available in widescreen. The creepy swamps in these two films would look amazing in 2.35:1.

That is awesome! I wish they'd release a Blu Ray of this (how about two versions - one version digitally remastered and cleaned up and an alternate version with all the specks, scratches and soundtrack pops of a drive-in presentation. Just a thought!).
Anyway - thanks for that. Now I know one widescreen version actually exists.

It would be taken more seriously if it was in hd., the swamp would look lovely, but I dont think it would be as creepy.

If anyone's interested, the VHS copies of the film (although from a dark and somewhat faded print) present the entire anamorphic print of the film. When played on a widescreen TV, all you have to do is select the display or "wide" option to stretch out the image to proper widescreen.

Which ones? There's be multiple VHS releases, wouldn't there? VCRs are becoming an increasing rarity, sadly.
