I want to like it, but the two cops bring it down.

I really like a lot of things in this movie. I felt that the rape and murder scenario was done a lot better in this one than in the remake, with much better villains.

I also think the parents revenge is done better, since it's them who are the total aggressors, where as in the remake, the parents were defending themselves for a large portion, rather than getting revenge.

The movie has more of an unsettling atmosphere than the remake on some ways as well. One thing I do not like is the cheesy dialogue between Mari and Phylus at the beginning, when they talk about how they feel like women cause their breasts have developed, or something like that.

But I could forgive that one quibble, if it wasn't for the two dumb cops, who keep coming back throughout the movie. I didn't feel they added anything, and the comedy was out of place.

Unless this is suppose to be black comedy intentionally, like that of what you would get in a movie like Natural Born Killers, or other Tarantino type movies example?

Or was the black comedy unintentional?
