For all of you music fans out there, heres a bit of trivia. Did any of you know that Michael Jackson wrote and sang a song to the love theme music to this movie? If anyone is interested in hearing this I can email it to you. Song is called Happy.

SInce it's on his third solo album 'Music & Me', it's not exactly rare.

reply

Do you hear it on the radio all the time as a Michael Jackson hit alongside of Billie Jean, and Beat It??? No. Is on the greatest hits album? No. Its rare.

Michael Jackson has had a 40 year career in music. It's not all summed up by one shaved down greatest hits album. Anf for the record, it's appeared on quite a few other Motown compilations of his, 2 of which have been #1 albums.

I didnt say that it was on "one shaved down greatest hit" album. Apparently my definition of the word rare is different from yours. When I say rare, I mean something thats not heard all the time, but its always good to hear. It seems to me that you think rare is something that is a complete lost classic, buried and vanished only to be resurrected by elite music fans. The people that never heard the song, know what I mean. And you do too, so just buzz off.

That's interesting because I was only familiar with "Happy" by Smokey Robinson on his "Quiet Storm" album. I didn't realize that Michael Jackson had written and sung it previously. I just sampled both versions at Amazon and I still prefer Smokey's version. Thanks for the trivia.

Here is the information on the song Happy
Written by: Michel Legrand/William “Smokey” Robinson
Produced by: Bob Crewe
Arranged by: Ben Lanzarone
Appears on: Darin 1936-1973 (Motown) LP
A side of: “Something in Her Love”
Recorded: 1972 (The “Happy” recording session)
Released: 1972
Love theme from the motion picture: Lady Sings the Blues
Bobby Darin sang and Bob Crewe produced this song in 1972 for the theme song to Lady Sings the Blues. Bobby was with Motown records at the time. I don't know why he is not acknowledged for this on any of the soundtracks, because it is a fantastic song and he should get credit for it. If you get a chance to listen to Bobby sing this song please do because it is one of my favorite Bobby songs.
I guess you can tell I LOVE Bobby Darin!
