Just awful

This movie was highly overrated and a disrespect to such a great women. How this got an oscar nomination is a bigger mystery to me than an Arthur Conan Doyle novel.

Diana was just bad. Her singing was nothing near as remotely good to Billie's. Her acting was mediocre and very melodramatic (which was common in films circa 1970's and before; but Diana's was just too much).

This was just a money scheme by Motown which was achieved by casting Diana Ross, the 1960's-70's equivalent of Beyonce, (another horrible actress and overrated artist; who at least has decent, but obnoxiously loud vocals). They took a legend and tarnished her legacy with claims of "honoring" her with a suppose "legend in the making herself." BULLSH**!

This was also done to the great Etta James in the film Cadillac Records, where some retard decided Beyonce was a good choice to play Etta. *barf* -Etta showed immense anger because of this. Look it up on youtube.

Billie was probably rolling in her grave.

I rate 2/10 only because of Billy Dee Williams' and Richard Pryor's involvement in the film. Otherwise, I'd give it a big fat ZERO!

The most beautiful thing ever made:

This movie was EXCELLENT! How was Diana Ross dramatic scenes like the beginning where she was taken to the padded cell "bad acting"??? Same with other scenes like the withdrawl scene and when the KKK broke out the windows of the tour bus? Some people hatin cause Diana played Billie!

There was nothing original or noteworthy about her so-called "acting" in those scenes. Right out of the learn acting 101 playbook.
