I don't know why the director didn't have a younger actress play Billie as a teen , Diana Ross looked like she was in her 30's playing a 14 year old an dit looked plain silly and was very distracting !

Ross never belonged in that role, period. It was a disgrace to Billie's legacy

I agree it was distracting, but it wasn't terrible. Guess the director figured he could get away with it, but it was a mistake.
