A question for you movie experts: Is any earlier film more violent?

I can't remember seeing a movie this violent and bloody made before 1972. If any exist, please let me know.

What about Sword of Doom and Harakiri?

Our maybe I'm confusing graphic with dark films.

I just saw Sword of Doom. Wow.

Harakiri isn't violent at all for the majority of the film, at least in a physical sense, but when it is, it really is, especially for 3 or 4 minutes in the first act. Emotionally, on the other hand, it puts the screws to you for way more of the runtime. It's my favorite samurai film and one of my all-time favorite movies in general, SO GOOD

Jigoku (1960)
The Sword of Doom (1966)
Patriotism (1966)
Go, Go, Second Time Virgin (1969)
Blind Beast (1969)
Funeral Parade of Roses (1961)
Demons (1971)
Hanzo the Razor: Sword of Justice (1972)

Some of the violent films I can think of that were made before this one. Note that some of them are violent in more of a disturbing way, not in the means of excessive fountains of blood.

I was a big fan of Kill! When I saw it, around the same time as Sword of Doom, but I remember it being fairly light in tone? It's been about 10 years though, I could be way off on this one.
