Kenji Misumi...

Is hands down one of the greatest action directors that ever lived. His use of the frame and the creative ways he staged pure mayhem deserve much admiration. Above all else he never lost track of the characters or the storytelling, which is remarkable.

Tarantino has lifted verbatim (are you surprised) from The Lone Wolf and Cub series (just check out the fight between Bride and Gogo in Kill Bill 1) and even though I liked Kill Bill 1, nothing equals the Lone Wolf and cub films that Misumi directed.

I watch them while eating breakfast before going to work. That's how good they are.
