one redeeming quality only

Raquel is absolutely gorgeous. Her sensuous body oozes in every scene, even the ones that are supposed to be serious. My eyes were locked on her the whole time. Truly an iconic actress, but it's unfortunate that her body reduces every movie she's in to a vehicle for her amazingly good looks.

"Don't you say goodbye?"

I totally disagree with you on this one. I also think that Raquel is gorgeous in her films but KANSAS CITY BOMBER as well the THREE & FOUR MUSKETEERS that Raquel did for director Richard Lester, proved that she was something more than a sex symbol and had real acting talent. She was even won a Golden Globe for her performance in THREE MUSKETEERS. Those films prove that Raquel was much more than a pretty face with a dynamite figure.

Alan, I agree. The Musketeer films proved she had comedic chops.

Problem is, she was so sultry looking. If she'd looked like Goldie Hawn, they'd have given her more comedic opportunities.

Lowest common denominator thinking.

Plus, in this film, Kallianotes, just rocks--& was nominated.

On the whole, I'm glad she didn't look like Goldie Hawn.

There is one great Raquel scene in this movie where she looks just wonderful! In the scene, Burt has just brought her up his office, and she is wearing a tight fitting sweater dress that really shows off her great curves, both front and back. Breathtakngly gorgeous!!

Hmm...sounds like call to see a DOCTOR!

I had a huge crush on Raquel back then which is the sole reason I saw this at the drive in. It's too bad she never did any nude scenes. I think the jaws of every male in the free world would have dropped. It's hard to believe she's 75!

Long live the 70s!

I think this movie is one of the exceptions. Raquel looks really good as always, but she was pretty much downplaying her sexual side. This movie shows the interesting grind of the roller derby world, and how the players get used and slowly burn out.
