Incredible Anime - So much humanity, Amazing animation, Amazing Music and Violent as Hell!

Seriously...why is this series so well done? The animation is incredible and so edgy.

So deep with so many cool themes: terrorism, hermaphrodite villians, unrequited robot love, and so many civilians being killed!

There was one about islamic terrorism and star crossed lovers who blow themselves up suicide style - wtf - this was over 40 years ago in a childrens cartoon, this was hillariously sanitized in the hacked down "Battle of Planets" americanized version I grew up on.
