The showdown dreadful cut (spoiler)

When Kidd is seated in the judge's chair and shoots Harlan, you don't see it. The next take you see is Harlan lying between some chairs dead . This is one of the worst edits I've ever seen. What the hell was that done for? It completely ruin the show for me what was otherwise a mediocre but at least entertaining western.
