New Bruce Lee fan seeking advice from purists!!

I bought my father Enter the Dragon for his birthday a while back and having viewed the film for the first time in about 4 years with him my love of Bruce Lee and his legacy of work has come flooding back and now with a little extra cash at hand i've decided to purchase some of his films on dvd.

I came upon the Bruce Lee Collection in my local dvd store and found that purchasing the films collectively (Big Boss, Fist of Fury, Way of the Dragon, Game of Death and Game of Death 2) would be around the same price as purchasing them individually if i didn't bother to purchase the horribly offensive and laughable Game of Death movies.

To me and I'm sure to many they are not "real" Bruce Lee films and i'm wondering whether or not to just put aside my gripe and but the collectors edition or buy the others and try to ignore the Game of Death films exist.

If you are a Bruce Lee follower and purist how do you feel about the Game of Death films? Would you ever buy them for what little connection they have to the master of martial arts or scold them with a passion?

I purchased Game of Death for the fight scenes that Bruce filmed before his death. I didn't purchase the second one. Personally, I really wasn't too impressed with this movie since it was an unfinished project for about 4 years. But the fight scene between Bruce and Kareem is pretty much what I look at the most.

True but if you have ever wated the documentary A Warrior's Journey - you get to see Bruce Lee's origianl footage in its entierty as well as his script notes and concepts. In Game of Death they trim the fight footage down.

The only american releases worth owning is the documentary which features lee's last unfinished film reconstructed in its entirety and the restored Enter the Dragon. I would recommend purchasing the fortune star blu-ray editions of the Big Boss and Chinese Connection (Fist of Fury). These are 1080p and are not dubbed with english subtitles.

Also, if you are further interested in martial arts or more Kung Fu, in particular I highly recommend Jet Li's Fearless and the even better movie - Ip Man starring the current Hong Kong martial arts sensation, Donnie Yen.

If you can get the DVD set, for the same price as if you bought them seprately, buy them separetely .I had all of Bruce's movies on VHS, and decided to re-buy the DVDs. I bought the set, but have yet to watch the "Game Of Death" DVDs, out of respect for Bruce. But, the price of the set was really cheap. Also, on the DVD set version of "Chinesse Connection" (Fists of Fury) There is a guy singing the theme song! Never heard that before.
Instead of viewing the Game of Death dirge, get "A Warrior's Journey" a documentary about Bruce Lee, and the final movie "Game of Death" It has the complete fight sequences, and explaination of what the movie was supposed to be about. That tripe in the DVD set is garbage. Hearing that girl sing makes me wish for crotch rot!

I don't think I'd like the 'Game of Death' even if it were finished. Anything else BL did was pretty great, though. If I had to put up with getting the G.O.D. vids in order to get the others, I would though.
