White police officers?

Nothing I've ever read has ever mentioned that at least three of the cops who killed Chen were white men taking orders from Lo Wei's inspector. Does anyone know what's behind that. Also, if the story takes place in 1908, why are all the "Westernized" Asians and whites wearing 1970s clothes?

I was wondering exactly the same thing!

Prostitute: What the *beep* are you doing?
Johnny: I'm gonna kill a bunch of people.

Inre: the white policemen, it probably has to do with their being in the "International Zone" of Shanghai during that scene.

As for the clothing, they likely either didn't have the money or didn't have the attention to detail to recreate period accurately.

Before World War II, Shanghai was protected by the Shanghai International Police Force. There were European officers, mostly British, on it. I'm just surprised no one has ever commented on it. As for the clothes, Im sure you're right. The producers of the "Chop socky" epics of the era were always cheapskates.

There's virtually no effort made to costume the characters in an appropriate fashion. It's a low budget film and unfortunately you almost have to expect this sort of thing.🐭
