Continuity Problem? (Spoiler!)

As I recall, Jeremiah had a bloody spot on his chest/shoulder area, right after he raced back home to find his family dead, but right before he hunted down and killed most of that Native party.
Can this be explained away? A bad zit?

I just watched the movie again last night, and I was wondering the same thing. The only conclusion I can come to is that its an old wound. That shirt looked older than hell, so it could have been done at any time. If you notice, later in the movie, when he is talking to Will Geer at the end, its still there and looks the same. I would have to assume he learned to fight somewhere, and that couldn't have been his first confontation with a hostile tribe.

The bloody spot was left over from the wolf attack prior to his going off with the soldiers. I'm pretty sure it can be seen when he first talks to the officer and minister.

the blood spot was a stain from the attack he recv'd by the wolves while he was
Buffalo hunting.

The only real big continuity problem I have noticed with this movie is at the beginning he has the horse with the beautiful white blaze on his forehead.
He has that horse right up to the scene where he wakes up and finds the horse froze to death.
The frozen (or Starved?) horse is suddenly a plain old sorrel looking horse.
After he meets up with Bear Claw he has the pretty horse with the blaze back.
