I totally agree with you. It's an amazing movie but sadly would never be made today. Film producers think they have to act like God and decide what we need to learn, politically speaking. Instead of real-life stuff, we get lectures on the environment or homosexuality. None of which belong in a film. A film should be entertainment and realism. Jeremiah Johnson and The Long Riders (1980) are perfect examples of realism.
Both are excellent films and really should go down as classic cinema. If you've not seen The Long Riders, I highly suggest it.

Oh I'm so glad! Both are movies I can watch over and over and over again and never tire of them. I also love that The Long Riders featured real life brothers in its casting. That was really clever and unique.
