Susannah York's Performance

It is a travesty that Ms. York was overlooked by the Academy. But did she not win a prize at Cannes for this? I own a copy of this film and everytime I get a chance to watch it, I realize how brilliant the performance is. Ms. York completely knocks it out of the park.

She was brilliant in this film, excellent to say the least.

Funny. I thought the same exact thing the day I heard the terrible news.

Another great female performance in an Altman film, that also took Best Actress at Cannes but was ignored by the Academy, would be Shelley Duvall in "3 Women" (1977). Extraordinary work.

FYC: Steve McQueen, Adele Exarchopoulos, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Lea Seydoux, Michael Fassbender.

If York had been nominated she probably would have complained again that she was offended that the Academy 'hadn't asked her'...

I never understood her point there. It makes her sound pompous.
