Whats odd about the film is how they changed the names from Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde to Dr Marlowe and Mr Blake but the rest of the cast had the correct names like Utterson and Lanyon, to why this is as Lee said is inexplicable.

...And what was the point of the name-change when the opening credits mention Robert Louis Stevenson?

Could it have had something to do with Hammer releasing Dr Jekyll and Sister Hyde the same year?

Could've been.

Funny thing is that one doesn't have Utterson or Lanyon yet I Monster does.
