overlooked

This is an over looked film from the 70s.

reply

I agree. This film deserves to be much better known. Hopefully the recent DVD release will give this movie another chance to be discovered by a bigger audience.

DO NOT BUY THIS DVD!!!! IT IS A BOOTLEG! BUY THE VHS AND BURN IT TO DVD YOURSELF!

reply

Why do you say it's a bootleg?

I'm assuming it's a 'public domain' release, but I'm not sure I would go as far as to say that it's a bootleg. Shock-O-Rama is a legit company as far as I know. They seem more official than the 'Blax' label that releases all those Blaxploitation movies.

Is there proof that this is an illegal release?

reply

It's an illegal release. New World financed the film, and retained all rights to it. Roger Corman still lists it in his library (check the website at www.newhorizonspix.com) and he was trying to solicit these to interested parties. Just because Shock-O-Rama has put out legit stuff before doesn't mean they can't slip up and simply rip a movie from the old Charter tape. They did the same thing with SUMMER SCHOOL TEACHERS, which was also financed and is owned by Corman/New World.

reply

Cool - thanks for the response.

I guess I'll keep my VHS for now.

I looked forward to the DVD as my original VHS has the 1st 30 seconds cut off the beginning.

Hope Roger Corman officially releases it. Not sure why he never released it with his other similar films (Big Doll House, Bird Cage etc...).

This film is 'overlooked' for a reason. It's a piece of rubbish. Not even a few glimpses of reasonably attractive breasts can redeem it.

reply

Nonsense. Reasonably attractive breasts can overcome quite a bit. This is a standard "women in prison" flick with the requisite jungle revolutionary army in the mix. It works just fine for that, and delivers the exploitation goods.
