Home for the Holidays and other tv horror films

Why are so few of these old made-for-tv horror films available on DVD? Many of them are excellent (The Norliss Tapes and Someone's Watching Me! are two of my favourites)! Home for the Holidays is one of those that I haven't seen, but am very intrigued by - seriously, it's a proto-slasher starring everyone's favourite baroness, Eleanor Parker, AND Jill Haworth! It probably heads my list of most requested on DVD:

- Home for the Holidays
- The Stranger Within
- The Screaming Woman
- Dark Night of the Scarecrow
- Don't Go to Sleep

Which tv terrors would you like to see make it to DVD?

There was a good little chiller called "Scream Pretty Peggy" which had Bette Davis and Ted Bessell in it from around '73. I'd love to see that one again.

I remember watching "Home for the Holidays" on TV. I was about 6 or 7 and they played it on a Saturday afternoon. I was terrified but have always wanted to see it again. I requested it on the Turner Classic Movies website, but I don't know if that will do much good. I'd love to get this on dvd, but can't seem to find it anywhere. It's got such a good cast, you'd think someone would want to cash in on that.

one that i remember fondly is A Taste Of Evil starring Barbara Parkins and Barbara Stanwyck. Another one is She Waits with Patty Duke. I wish all of these were out on DVD!

I have bootleg copies of nearly ALL the movies cited in this thread. The quality isnt always great, but it's better than not seeing them again. You can find them by searching the internet, tend to run about $5 to $10 each.

These old TV movies offer a certain nostalgic pleasure. But I can't say I was much impressed by Home for the Holidays. It was just some old-school over-the-top acting in a simple Agatha Christie like plot. The main difference from Christie being that the killer in this movie could be spotted half way through the movie. Still, such movies can be enjoyable if you know ahead what you are getting (I did) or if you have some childhood memories about it (I didn't, but apparently many people do).
