which version?

I'm planning on ordering a copy of this movie on DVD and as there are two versions out ther, I was wondering if anyone had any comments or recommendations on which is the better one (if they're at all different)

There is the one hosted by Elvira (as I have never rented or bought aa movie 'hosted' by her I am unsure as to what I should expect in regards to whether she just lets the movie run without interruptions or what).

And there is the other one with the cool picture on the cover of a chained woman.

Any thoughts or comments?

I have the chained woman cover version and I have to say from a technical quality perspective.. it's awful. They never made any attempt to properly prepare the transfer to dvd. Washed up colors, letter box here and there, dull imagery, audio echos... just a mess. However, there are some who say this version is the most complete unedited version out there with most of the blood and nudity intact. Don't know what edition you would be getting with the Elvira version. You will have to compare the running time between them to determine that. Though with the Elvira, you get another movie with it. No extras or anything else with the chained version.

No.

About the DVDs: Of the two Elvira's is probably more useful, but if you have time try to get the one made by Incredibly Strange Film Works, it has about 25 seconds clipped from the very beginning.

The Elvira DVD gives you two options: Play Movie with Elvira or Play Movie Only. This is the same on all the other Elvira DVDs.

The one hosted by Elvira was amusing. There was a strange insert of "Cooking with Elivra" that was weird but enjoyable.

The Elvira version is an episode of her '80s TV series "Movie Macabre" that was first aired in Los Angeles in 1981 before being syndicated to TV stations nationwide.

So,it's probably edited for content.(i.e. Nudity, violence are cut)

Ralph-"Yes?"
Betty-"SHOVE IT!"
Ralph-"Oh,you shove it too,Betty!"

reply

The Elvira version does include the nudity and violence; they just took the host segments from her TV program and combined them with the original film (rather than the broadcast cut).
