Believe it or not Australia has refused classification for this film just recently. It was submitted twice to the OFLC board. the very fact films like VISITOR Q, IRREVERSIBLE and I STAND ALONE got released here is just proof of the boards snobbiness nad pretentiousness. Its eems ok to have vile rape etc as long as its a art film.

I guess it just means my aussie dollars go overseas, importing it..rather than buy a local product.
You'll want to be careful importing some Banned DVDs. Customs have been known to target certain films and confiscate them. Empire Magazine had an article as a tribute to VHS, and they were talking about banned movies, and how they are now released (if indeed they get released) in Australia.
And in the end, I think some films have the artistic merit to be allowed. IRREVERSIBLE is not for the weak at heart (or even the quite strong at heart) but it certainly has the merit to be allowed. Haven't seen the other two, though.

Do not believe all the hype towards it; it's just a regular exploitation flick.

even better, get the 'Extra Wierd' sampler video. it's got the trailer and you've only got to see one or two minutes of vile, amatuerish exploitation flick (not that i'm saying there's anything wrong with that)without the agonizing plot or worse acting. value!

The movie was released on videotape in New Zealand around twenty years ago but it's heavily cut. I'd say the Australian ban means we won't be seeing a Region 4 DVD anytime soon.
Actually the whole movie is currently on YouTube uncut. I imagine it will get pulled shortly.
