Carlo was so relieved when he thought he getting on a plane to Vegas.

Yeah...Michael set it up that way.

Yeah Michael was never going to forgive him, he pretended to forgive him to trick him into confessing as he would never killed Carlo unless he was absolutely sure.

Micheal needed him to SAY who approached him to make sure who it was. And If I was Carlo I would have run my ass off on the way to the car to getaway.
