Anyone else prefer Al Pacino in this movie?

Yeah, Brando was fantastic, but Pacino deserved the Oscar.

Al Pacino was great in this. This movie is what made him a legend.

Metallica, Iron Maiden and My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic fan.

So unfair pacino didnt get an oscar for this.

I think part of it is because Pacino has the better character arc. His is far more developed and nuanced than Brando's.

Don Vito started the movie off with a powerful presence. But with Michael, we get to watch him develop into that powerful presence by the end.

Me. I personally think Pacino gave the strongest and most memorable performance than any actor in these 3 films. And as good as De Niro was in TGF2, I thought Cazale gave a more moving performance and should've been nominated.

I prefer Pacino here over Brando and preferred Pacino over De Niro in TGF 2 as well.

Al’s impressive but from both a performance and character standpoint, I find the two Don Vito’s more mesmerizing, interesting, and far less exhausting to watch (not exhausting at all I should say). The way some question was what so compelling about De Niro as Vito (or even Brando), is the same way I feel about Al... at least in Part II.

Perhaps his storyline doesn’t interest me all that much, but while Pacino effectively carries the film, De Niro’s subtle yet more varied performance is the one that amazes me the most. And let’s not forget both Vito performances are significantly smaller compared to Al’s, but yet they leave a long-lasting impression. So the Vito performances all the way!
