Indian movies are flooding the IMDb 250

There are supposed 'ratings farms' in India, Turkey and South East Asia. These countries are using the farms to get a bunch of 10/10 votes registered to their movies. BRUTAL. Even Well-received foreign movies never have such a huge disparity between US votes and non-US votes. This is voter manipulation and it seems like IMDB isn't going to be doing anything about, but they should. The IMDB Top 250 is now as popular and resourceful a "best of" list as we have in the industry.

What exactly is an experienced movie watcher? How does one become an experienced movie watcher? Do u fill out an application or

Exactly, one can become an "experienced" movie watcher, whatever that means, if he discovers some quality movies thanks to a professional website.

I thought I was a movie fan before IMDb, but the Top 250 made me discover some new titles I had never heard of before: 12 Angry Men, Stand by Me, Rashômon, Seventh Seal, Ikiru... I owe much of my cinematic knowledge to IMDb and the Top 250 so this statement about it being a dumb list boosted by spam votes or whatever might hold some consistency right now, but it's never been the case before.

Of course, anyone can decide which film to watch again, but the Top 250 can give you some tips about which film you can discover.

Watch a hell of a lot of movies, diverse, read into film history, film theory and film criticism.

It's a real issue, people are creating fake accounts in order to boost votes, we deal with the same problem in the poll board, so this is not a commentary about diversity.

@OP: Yeah even i observed that (I am an Indian by the way). But frankly, those Indian movies in top 250 list is not as good as its ratings are (I'm sure you would've guessed it by now).

The high ratings, I dont think its due to some manipulation. I guess its due to huge population we've and most educated people in India having access to internet. Even the so called "educated" people in India watch one of the most stupid movies and they blindly rate it 10.

Also, most Indians watch movie based on their favourite actors and fav. songs or some stupid reasons like that. I'm sure it happens elsewhere too (I was shocked to see The Flash series having 8+ rating), but the amount of stupid movie goers is very huge and the amount of stupid people having access to internet is equally huge out here. I sincerely doubt if Indian production houses have hired some manipulation firm to do their job. I dont think they even need to do that, as there are enough fanatics here to rate dumb movies high rating

Well, India has over 1 BILLION people and the film industry is a huge part of their popular culture as are movies in the Western World. South East Asia is also experiencing a huge youth population growth. Add those two factors with the industrial development going on there and you have more people in the neighborhood.
