This is all I can think of for now. I'm trying to keep with the original casting and keep Italian American or actors that can pass as Italian or Italian American. Also, trying to match someone what personalities of these actors and what they have shown in past performances.

No. Just........no.

It's easy to criticize. can you add anything to your denial other than "no, just no" there are not a plethora of Italians in the industry that can pull this off and the legends I'm trying to replace, of course you'll say no to most. I was just curious as to who should they pick that would do the original justice with actors from today in their original age range, Wheres your list? or What are your criticisms. Of course its so easy to come with your negativity when trying to do over one the greatest movies of all time. So either say something that means somethings other then "no just no".

i think Jonah Hill as Celemnza is good. a fat guy, with humor to him. Deniro is a lock as his age and looks has advanced. I don't know if you've seen Dave Fanco , he has got he italian name, plus i think he can pull off the innocent Michael turned into teh more serious Michael, he as some acing talents in him.

Pastore looks very similar to Lucca.

Paul Dano can pull off a weak emotional Fredo

Again, on looks alone Brad Garret is a good Tessio and Joe Piscapo as The Turk
match.

Maybe Kay should be Jennifer Lawrence now that I think about it.

Shia Labeouf can match the violence and anger from Gianni Russo.

Cannavale or Hardy can pull off Sonny

Tom Hagen can be Bradley Cooper the more I think of it and their temperament.

I just personally feel it should never be remade. There are only a handful of films I feel this way about, but the GF1 and 2 are my all time favourite films, they have a special place in my heart that goes beyond the flawless acting, directing, writing, camera work etc.
If Hollywood is going to remake a film, I'd rather see them have another go at something that had the potential to be a very good film, but was a bit fudged the first time round. An oft-quoted example is Oceans 11. The original was supposedly an excuse for Frank Sinatra and pals to lark about on holiday and the film itself is not great, but Steven Soderbergh took that idea and vastly improved on it for the remake. I would also include The Fly. Special effects and censorship constraints prevented the 1950s version being anywhere near as good as the 1986 remake.
I think remaking The Godfather would be a futile exercise as it is so highly regarded by so many people, any new attempt would be bound to fail.

De niro only appeared in gf 2

This would be a complete flop with that cast. Movies like The Godfather should never be remade
