I LOVE that line that ENZO THE BAKER makes at the hospital, but furthermore, I think he is such a HANDSOME man. Am I the only one who thinks he and MR. PACINO (Michael) bear a striking resemblance to each other in that particular scene?
Poor Enzo, he almost wet his pants in that scene (as I think many of us would) , he's just a baker but he really showed his courage and his loyalty to Vito and Michael, I'm glad he got away before the police came.
Yeah maybe their is a slight resemblance, but Pacino is definitely more handsome, while Enzo is more 'cute'.
Enzo WAS adorable and seemed sweet. He must of had some idea that Don Corleone was a Mob Don. But he still came to pay his respects with his little bunch of flowers. He had no idea what he was walking into! And LORD GOD ALMIGHTY Al Pacino was a gorgeous man in Godfather I & II. I was in high school when I saw GF I and had a mad crush on Pacino. I don't know about a resemblance but Enzo and Pacino were both very handsome.
Enzo certainly knew what Vito was. But Enzo respected Don Corleone. He knew Vito had helped keep him in the country and wanted to show his gratitude. Even after Michael told him things could become dangerous, Enzo immediately chose to stick around.
That was brave. He was scared out of his mind, but he stood there to protect a man who'd helped him.

I liked that scene because it fleshed out Enzo's character.
At the wedding, we see his future father in law asking Vito to help keep Enzo in this country because his daughter loved him. At that point, it wasn't clear what kind of man Enzo was. He could have been a wife beating thug like Carlo who only was looking to marry for his own benefit.
By showing up late at night alone with flowers for a hospital visit, then helping Michael defend Vito even though he was fudging his drawers, we saw that Enzo was a good man with enough convictions to help out a friend despite being terrified.
Enzo the Baker was a captured Italian Soldier that was sent to America to help out on the home front, when the war was over he was sure to be sent back home, where plenty of people would be waiting to greet him not to nicely, Yes he was handsome and Enzo had a homely daughter. Vito pulled a few strings and got Enzo made a permanent citizen-after he married Enzo's daughter. He was a handsome ignorant Man, who no doubt probably skipped out on Enzo's daughter when the time was right. The Godfather Movies kind of showed Handsome people to be stupid and lacking in morals or scruples.
I don't know about that. He's in GF3 at the opening party, where he has made a spectacular cake to commemorate Michael's papal award. I always took that to mean that Michael became his patron, as Vito had been his father in law's. They shared a very important moment after all.
Enzo seemed like a nice enough guy. Nazorine (the elder baker) was probably chomping at the bit to 1) marry off his daughter, and 2) have a male apprentice, someone to take over his bakery.
Enzo learned the baking business and continued to work with the Corleones for many years.
He may have only been in a single scene in the first film, but it told you he was a nice, loyal kid.

On Mark Maron's show there was an episode where he finds out the woman he's been having sex with is married to a cop and he's freaked out that the guy is going to kill him. He has some guy over his house (from a record store) who he implores to stay with him to ward off the cop saying, "You'll be my Enzo the baker!"
