Potent climax (spoiler)

The narration is taken from Alice's diary, which helps us get to know her via her inmost thoughts and we come to care about her and her welfare. Effectively played by Jamie Smith-Jackson, Alice is beautiful and has so much potential. We WANT her to overcome her addiction and move on to a productive life. She finally comes to her senses and starts seeing a respectable young man and returns to school with a great sense of hope.

Then the movie freeze-frames her at the entrance to the school as she turns to smile & wave goodbye to her beau and a devastating endnote comes out of nowhere. I didn't expect this and was crushed.

I wept.
