im confused about the ending

Im confused about the ending? I know Hess found freedom but why did Ganja want to stay the way she was considered she was initially horrified when she stabbed/infected? Why would anyone want to stay that way?

It's simple. Ganja explained her life to Hess when she talked about the "snowball fight" when she was a young girl. Her vampirism catered to her compulsion to "take care of Ganja first." In addition, she ultimately was afraid to die and she felt that a life of addiction is still better than death.

Because, in the end, she made a good vampire.

I interpreted it as that Hess had gone to church to pray for forgiveness for all the things he'd done and then destroy himself. But Ganja accepted what she was and no longer what to change it. She had found her salvation in darkness. Maybe she would've changed her mind and destroyed herself later on but for now she was content.
