Who was the woman at the end who was laid dead in Rusk's bed just as he's been caught? Was it someone previously in the film or just a random person. I couldn't decide whether it was Billie Whitelaw's character or not.

I'm no pathologist, but I'm guessing that, since the woman had only been dead a matter of minutes, the blows to her head would have burst/crushed some blood vessels, which would then show just under the skin.
Just a theory.
