What was she thinking about?

That is, Mrs. Blaney. Just after she tried to make a call while Rusk suggested there was no need to call the cops. Then, when she insisted on washing her hands just before he pinned her against the wall.

I think she was still trying to get away. If she could lock herself in the bathroom eg, or manage to slip out the door once she was a few steps away from him. She tries several different tactics in that scene to save herself, and fails with each one- like her suggestion that they go to her place; obviously she wasn't going to actually consent, but it would have given her a chance to get away or get help. Rusk gives her no opportunity though.

She should have screamed her head off. And she does scream, but at the end when he starts to strangle her and it's too late.
