prior to the last match....(spoilers)

before the last match, Ernie apperently had a match that he won, and by the look of him in the crowd...he didnt look like he took any punishment.

Why wasnt this fight looked at at all in the movie? I know its Tully's story mainly, but I thought it was kind of weird that the Ernie character never really got a climax in the boxing ring. Its just passively mentioned that he was on the undercard and that he won. anybody have any thoughts on that?

Yes I was disappointed overall that Ernie's fighting wasn't given more screen time. In the book he figures more prominently (probably because he represents the author Leonard Gardner). But I suppose his fighting was left on the cutting room floor, for some reason.

they only show his two fights and a sparring session where he performed with neolithic incompetence. bad editing i guess. i'll have to read the book.
